A Heart Filled with God

“When a heart is filled with God, he sees God all around him. You lift a rock and God appears. You look up at the stars, and you see God’s shining light. The Lord is smiling in the flowers, murmuring in the breeze, asking with the wind, and responding with a storm. He sings in the rivers... All creatures speak of God when one’s heart is filled with God.”

Brother Leo, how thrilling it is to discover that all creation is a replica of the Lord. All things are sacred. All things have been blessed and sanctified. All things are good. That is why I tell you to venerate everything that breathes and everything that exists. And for this reason, one must extend the same courtesy not only to roaches and spiders, but also to rocks and metals.
