Mary, The Poor One of God
There are those who place Mary so high and so far away that they transform her into a demi-god who has been dehumanized.
“This creature ‘blessed among all women’ was on this earth, a humble woman, immersed in the normal conditions of privation, labor, oppression, and uncertainty for the future, as are all those women of an underdeveloped country.

Mary had to not only wash or clean the clothes, but sew them, and not only sew them, but even weave them together. She had to not only bake the bread, but also grind the grain, and, without doubt, cut the wood needed in the home as did all the women of Nazareth. The Mother of God was not a queen as those of this earth, but a wife and a mother of workers. She was not rich but poor.
Mary is not a sovereign but a servant. She is not the end but the way. She is not a demi-god but The Poor One of God. She is not all powerful but an intercessor. She is above all, the mother who continues giving birth to Jesus in us.
