Footprints

At times we see traces of footprints left in the sand and we say, “Somebody has passed this way.” We may even add, “It was an adult, or it was a child.” These are clues. In this way we wander discovering the mystery of God on the earth. On other occasions we come to know Him by our deductions and we say: this has no possible explanation unless we admit to a creative intelligence. Our journey through the world of faith is via analogies, insights and deductions.

Could a man blind from birth ever guess the color of a flaming wick? Colors have never entered into his mind. Therefore, he would not know how to identify, recognize or discern colors. Colors transcend him.

Will it ever be possible for a retina to capture the slightest flash of the majesty of God? The divine Being is not meant to enter into the world of our senses. He is above us. He is in another orbit. He transcends us. Our Father is an immortal and living God who will never succumb to the dark night, nor to death, nor deception. He will never be overtaken by any sound or light or smell or dimension. But you cannot grab hold of God, for it is impossible to dominate Him intellectually. We are pilgrims traveling towards Him, but never arriving.
