Who are you
and who am I?

Exit, wonder, fascination, amazement, awe.
A contradictory impression. Who are you
and who am I? It is a question,
it is an answer, it is admiration, it is
affirmation; to adore, to accept humbly
and profoundly that the Lord is
Most High and that we are little;
to adore, not to resist but
to accept everything with wonder and
gratitude, beginning with one's
own littleness; to adore, to kneel
at the feet of creation
to wash feet, to bandage wounds, to put
the worms in a safe place, to serve
at table, to reverence the insignificant,
to despise nothing, to be the least brother
among the least brothers of creation; To adore,
to gladly accept that the
Present is the Distant, and that He
who is the essence of my existence
is at the same time the Other Shore:
to remain still, mute, static, to love.
From the book “El sentido de la Vida” by Father Ignacio Larrañaga
