All of our sources are in You
Signs of creation, community reflections and vocal prayers, can make us present to the Lord. But they are, if I may use the expression they are “bits” of God. Creatures can evoke the Lord for us. A starry night, a snow-covered mountain, a flaming dawn, can “give us” God. They can awaken Him in us, but they are not God Himself, they are only evocations which awaken God in us.
The truly thirsty soul does not conform itself with “messengers”. As Saint John of the Cross says.

In order to enter into the sanctuary of Psalm 139, man must be aware that God is not just his creator and not just objectively present in his whole being. He communicates to him his existence and his constancy. It is important for him to keep in mind that God sustains him. God is not like a mother that carries the baby in her womb, but that God penetrates him and sustains his being in an even deeper and different dimension.
However, in spite of this close tie between God and man, there is no symbiosis or identification at all. Rather, the Divine Presence is creative and life-giving reality. This reality is described by the psalmist with words that soar with poetic expression, “All of our sources are in You.”
