The Experience of Surrender
An any moment of the day annoyances, abhorrence, deceptions, discouragements, sicknesses, betrayals, or misunderstandings may suddenly arise... The believer (after having struggled to solve whatever can be solved) discovers the hand of the Father, who allows and permits everything, and renounces his instinctive mental resistance, and surrenders himself into the hands of the Father in silence and peace.
The worst discontent can vanish with a “Thy Will be done.” There is no more effective analgesic for the pains of life.
The “surrendered person” silences the rebellious reactions that sprout from life’s blows, snuffs out the cries of resentment, lays his head in the hands of the Father, and with a “Let Thy Will be done”, remains in silence and peace, and is able to live freely and happily.
As you experience surrender, serenity is born, complexes, disappear, fears are carried away by the wind, anguish is banished, bitterness is changed into sweetness, and worries over the uncertainty of the future disappear; with a “Thy Will be done,” failures cease to be failures and death ceases to be death, like what happened in Gethsemane. Unquestionably, there is no defeat possible for those who surrender.
